PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING:
- Projects must be completed during regular school day classes (at this time, MAAE funding is not available for after school programs, lunch hour programs, counselling/art therapy sessions, lunch hour or after school clubs, etc.). These Microgrants are intended to support classroom teachers teaching visual art classes to students during the regular school day.
- You need to have a conversation with the person you are hoping to hire.
- Gather their contact information and the fees they charge. The MAAE encourages our members to hire artists using the rates suggested by CARFAC - Canadian Artist’s Representation - as a guideline; $591 per visit over 4 hours, and $331 per visit under 4 hours). Some artists may charge by the hour, by project, or by visit, and may choose to charge less than these fees.
- Visit (s) must be completed this school year: by May 31st, 2024.
- If you are approved for funding, the MAAE will arrange to compensate the artist the agreed amount by cheque when the visit is completed.
- If approved, you will be required to send the MAAE: (1) between 5 and 7 photos of the artist working with your students, and any process and/or final project photos of the project that develops / is a result of the visit (no student faces please!) . The photos will be posted on the MAAE Website.

PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING:
- Preference will be given to projects which allow for creative agency, critical thinking, or inquiry-based learning. Preference will be given to projects which encourage experimentation, focus on the creative / artistic process, and/or projects with flexible and/or open-ended results.
- Funding may be approved for consumable art and/or building materials needed for the innovative art project. Funding may not be used towards the purchase of any permanent equipment such as kilns, printing presses, pug mills, slab rollers, pottery wheels, light tables, cameras, tablets, or other technological equipment.
- Projects must be completed during regular school day classes. (At this time, MAAE funding is not available for after school programs, lunch hour programs, counselling/art therapy sessions, etc.). These Microgrants are intended to support classroom teachers teaching visual art classes to students during the regular school day.
- If you are approved for funding, you will collect physical, itemized receipts for all approved purchases as the project funding is spent. These physical receipts must be collected and provided to the MAAE by June 1st, 2024 (or earlier)for reimbursement.
- No purchases can be made on school PO's or through school accounts please, as these will not be reimbursed.
- Project(s) must be completed this school year: by May 31st, 2024.
- Applicants who receive funding will be required to send the MAAE a summary (this can be as short as a paragraph, and as long as 300 words) about the project(s) or artworks completed using the funds, and include between 5 and 7 photos of the process and/or final projects (no student faces please!) due no later than June 30th, 2022. This will be posted on our website.

- If approved, the MAAE will cover the admission and tour cost for up to 30 students (or one teacher's class; whichever is greater). Applicants can apply to get a tour alone, or a tour and workshop. We will subsidize bus-booking costs, up to $300 towards a bus rental. (Or your school division can "invoice" the MAAE for the bus cost.)
- On the day of the tour and workshop, teachers and supervisors - adults accompanying the students - are free.
- Manitoba Teachers (and Indigenous Peoples!) are always allowed FREE admission at the WAG - so if you would like to drop in to preview the works / shows, you are welcome to do so at no cost to you. Bring your MTS Card or Teacher Certification Card for free entry any day!
