INNOVATIVE ART PROJECT MICROGRANTS
(Four Grants are available)
Do you want to try something new in your classroom? Take risks and work through the creative process WITH your students? Encourage your students to develop art projects that are personally meaningful, and open-ended?
This fall/winter, the MAAE will be funding FOUR $500 Innovative Classroom Art Project Microgrants. This funding is intended to encourage teachers to take risks in their classrooms, by designing innovative art projects which allow their students to engage fully in the creative process.

Before applying, please ensure that you are aware of the boundaries of this project grant funding:
- Funding may be spent on buying materials for your project or/and providing honorarium for an Indigenous Elder/Knowledge-Keeper, or a professional artist (using the rates suggested by CARFAC - Canadian Artist’s Representation - as a guideline). Funding may not be used towards the purchase of permanent equipment such as kilns, printing presses, light tables, cameras, tablets, or other technological equipment.
- Projects must be completed during regular school day classes (at this time, funding is not available for after school programs, lunch hour programs, counselling/art therapy sessions, etc.). These Microgrants are intended to support classroom teachers teaching visual art classes to students during the school day.
- Project(s) must be completed this school year: by June 30th, 2022.
- Applicants who receive funding will be required to send the MAAE a summary (this can be as short as a paragraph, and as long as 300 words) about the project(s) or artworks completed using the funds, and include between 5 and 7 photos of the process and/or final projects (no faces please) due no later than June 30th, 2022. This will be posted on our website!
- Applicants will collect receipts as funding is spent. No purchases on school PO's or through school accounts please. Please send your physical receipts to the MAAE by June 30th, 2022.
