Looking for workshop proposals
for MAAE MTS PD Day on October 21, 2022.
The way we listen and respond to the world and each other has changed considerably over the last two years. Extremes seem to be more commonplace and the distance between these extremes grows each day. Repairing and building better relationships between each other and our environment has always been important, but seems especially so today. We need to reconnect. We need to listen to more voices. We need thriving communities. We need to recognize our power and learn to use it for good. Art can do and does these things. This is why the theme for the Manitoba Association of Art Educators MTS PD Day on October 21, 2022 is Reconnecting: Voice, Community and Power in the Classroom.
Have you led projects with your students that address reconnection, power, or community? Do you have projects / ideas / experiences on how art-making can and does address Truth and Reconciliation? Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity? Anti-Racism? Climate Justice? Land-Based learning? Connecting with communities outside of the classroom? Building and maintaining thriving communities? Do you want to share about artists who work in this way? We want to give you the chance to share with, inspire, and equip K-12 educators to use art to “reconnect.”
We are inviting all interested parties including artists, teachers, and community members to share proposals for workshops around this theme to be presented at our provincial Art Teacher PD day on October 21, 2022. We are looking for presentations and/or workshops lasting for 1 hour, half a day, or a full day. We are planning to run a hybrid conference with some sessions being in-person and some running virtually. Fees offered for presentations are as such:
We will contact all successful applicants in the next few weeks. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have.
Thank you!
